OUR STORY

Savvy Brain Pre and Primary Schools are community-centered, child-focused, and privately owned, non-governmental educational institutions providing inclusive learning and child welfare support for impoverished rural children in the Mwanza region of Tanzania, East Africa.

Our school was established on 11 October 2013 in Bujora village, Magu district, Mwanza region, in Tanzania, and is registered by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology as a privately founded and independently managed non-government school using English as the teaching language and was awarded the registration certificate number E.M. 20000, enacted on June 27, 2023.

The founder and initiator of these schools is known as Mr. William Ilembo Johnson, who was then joined by his lifelong friends and the school’s volunteers, namely Sarah Dwyer (Australia), Pedro Machado (Brazil), Gabriel Malaghaes (Brazil), Yannick Wolffensperger (The Netherlands) and the late Antonio Hashitani (Brazil).

Mr. William Ilembo Johnson is a dream achiever and faithful believer in God the Almighty; he was born in 1986, was abandoned by his father, and grew up in misery.

William is a man of the community, as he was raised by his mother through contributions from various community members in the Kigoma and Mwanza regions where he grew up. His mother struggled a lot to give him the invaluable education he has. He realized how hard it was for him to get an education, and this made him think about helping the neediest rural children to access education and holistic care for their growth and well-being, and this is what led him to initiate and found this school.

The school was created with a strong belief that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their family’s financial situation or background.

We provide inclusive, innovative, child-centered education with a strong focus on supporting impoverished rural children and those from low-income families. Many children we help study under free or highly subsidized arrangements as part of our social and founding mission.

Although privately owned, the school operates on a non-profit-oriented, community-serving model, where all resources are reinvested into improving education, technology, innovation access, teachers, and student welfare.

Our purpose is simple: to ensure no child is left behind regardless of the circumstances.

The academic operations at the school also follow the Tanzanian Education Curriculum and our innovative strategy of blending both academic-based education and skills-based learning.
